Dual monitor setup question

I can't for the life of me get aim to open to the first display. I can drag all the aim things there fine, but when i get a new im or whatever it wont default open to monitor 1. Anyone know how I can fix this?

Here are my settings for aim:

I dont use AIM but your settings look correct. Id suggest going to Windows Display Properties and clicking the Identify button under settings just to make sure you are choosing the right monitor. Identify will tell you what monitor is called what to make sure you and Windows are clear on what monitor is what.

If that doesnt work, Im out of all bright and stupid ideas unfortunately.

Yeah the monitors identified properly. Also, my other monitor is getting interference like the screen isn't refreshing properly. I bought a 6' VGA cable extender because the one that comes on it isn't long enough, could that be the reason? The one I bought was a 6' belkin triple shielded so i wouldn't think that's the problem, but i was wondering if maybe the length was doing it.

I dont think the interference you mention would be linked to the AIM problem although if possible, try switching the extension cable between the monitors to see if the same problem is reproduced.

Also if possible, try both monitors hooked up together without the cable. If it still doesnt work then Id assume that the cable has nothing to do with the problem.

MSN Messenger obeys every one of my commands with respect to positioning on a dual monitor system. AIM actually has options to sort this out but refuses to use them in your case. Strange.

Hope someone can get to the bottom of it. Perhaps a fresh install of AIM would be good. Did you happen to install AIM before or after you implemented your Dual Monitor setup? Could be the problem.

Yeah i didn't think the monitor interference had to do with aim, just thought i'd add it in here instead of making another thread

That hasn't always been the case...older versions (v4.5 and earlier?) insisted on the primary when started. There are actually lots of apps that are not optimized for dual-monitor, and exhibit just this kind of bug.

I dont think I had my duallie set up back then but according to that screenshot, AIM seems to have its own built in dual monitor support feature. I find it weird that it does this.

PushVTEC - have you tried AIM Forums? (if they have any) or read any recent FAQ/Troubleshooting Guide at the website? It may be possible that your problem is widespread and has been solved.
