I installed a second video card today and have some questions and problems.
My primary video card is an Elsa Geforce2gts on a 19", and my seconday is an ATI mach64 2mb pci on 17".

First when I load UT it will onlt ever open as a window, its unplayable like this. How can I make it full screne on the primary monitor?

Can I have the start menu on both monitors or am I limited to one?

The background image the same size for both monitors, but the primary monitor has a higher resulution so it just centers it, can I use diffrent size backgrounds for each. I actually just want them to stretch, which is what its set to but it centers on the 19".

Also the 17" is at 60hz but used to look nice when it was my only monitor. Now it really really hurts my eyes. Could it be out of sink or something because of the 19"?

Thanks
Garrett.

Very timely post, from my perspective: I just hooked up a 2nd monitor to my 2nd video card, and I'm having issues and question, too.

My setup: 21" Hitachi driven by Hercules GeForce Pro 64MB, and a 15" driven by a RAGE 128 GL PCI 16MB. The 15" monitor is a new used monitor, and it looked great in the store. Now, nestled up next to the 21" behemoth, I get jittery/vibrating text on the 21" monitor, and the jittering/vibration is far worse on the left side of the 21" screen -- right next to the 15" monitor. The jitterying/vibration gets better if I move the 15" monitor FAR (too far) away, or of course if I turn the power off on the 15". The 15" picture looks great, regardless.

Is this the issue you're having? If so -- does anyone have any suggestions on shielding or the like? Very frustrating ... *sigh*

I had this problem, it wasnt all too bad, but I moved the 17" a little bit away which left room for my speaker and mouse in there, so its okay, but they do interfear each other like that. I dont have any jitteryness really, its just the 17" is not in sink for refreshing I think. Its not isolated, its all over the monitor.

What OS are you running? You can have different wall papers (so I've heard) if you enable Active Desktop support. I think you can only have the Start Menu on one monitor, and I am not sure about your UT problem. Lastly, the refresh rate you should be able to change in settings just like your 19", just have to select the 2nd monitor first and then do it. Hope that helps a little.

Jeff:
Play with your refresh rates...certain combinations give like a waterfall effect, with bands running down the monitor(s). I think what I have is 75Hz and 70Hz, but you have to see what will work for you.

Oh yeah, and make sure you don't have speakers or electric appliances that spin (friend had a fan next to the monitor and it made it vibrate like crazy).

Hawk -- that's a lot better, at least. I matched them both at 60hz (blech - crappy old 15"), and now there's just one wave front that slowly scrolls up the screen every few seconds. This effect, as you note, seems to affect the entire screen, not just the side closest to the other monitor. Bizarre.

I'll keep fiddling.

Thanks!

Im runniong windows 2000. I figured out the UT thing. Just have to disable the second monitor. I have my monitors running at diffrent refresh ratea, 19" at 85hz, and 17" at 60hz(cant do more unfortunitally) Ill try that with the desktops. Is it realy bad with speakers next to the monitor. I have a speaker and sub next to my 19" and between the 2 monitors my speaker.
