Dual memory config?

My friend has the Asus A7N8X deluxe like mine. He has two sticks of 256 MB ram, will dual channel work if he adds a 512 MB stick to it?

I think that both channels need to have the same amount of memory. I have that same mobo and I think you can put the 512 in on channel and 2x256 in the other. I am not to sure though.

I don't think so. The left two slots are considered DIMM"B" while the far-right one is DIMM"A". As long as DIMMA and DIMMB have the same amount of memory, you'll have Dual Channel. Therefore, having two sticks of 256mb and a stick of 512mb will work in Dual Channel.

Really? have a link?
I was always tolded that you need two sticks of the same size.... thats whats been keeping from upgradeing...
this be very good news...

(Sorry snidy1 for being wrong) 😱

You can download a manual of nForce2 boards from the mfg. websites.

[Edit] Heh, I was reading another post here and came across this convenient link: Biostar's nForce2 board No need to download a manual.
