dual major?

Hmmmmm....I decided in Computer Engineering over Electrical. From the prespective of people already in the industry, you think the dual majoring is a wise idea? Is it worth the extra work? Lots of the people seem to say that jobs see them as the same, but how true is that?

Dual majoring what? EE + CompE?

dual computer and electrical? sounds inbred to me. might want to try engineering and business. or something that doesn't end up with you being a robot like polisci or history.

I don't think they allow that since Electrical Eng. is for the most part a superset of Comp. Eng. Classes are very similar between the two programs

i got a major/minor when I was in college and it was only 6 additional classes. Accounting and Hotel/Restaurant Management. I only took the Rest Mgmt classes, though, because three of the classes involved cooking and eating. 😀

They allow it in my school. The first difference i saw was that CompE takes discrete math instead of calc4, and they EE takes clac4 instead of discrete.

Here is the cirricullum for it. link

Computer Engineering/Electrical Engineering is a popular dual major because of the overlap. But it's not worth it, in my opinion.

Thats pretty crazy if they let you. Some dual major combos we couldn't take at our school offhand:

IS and CS
IS and CS minor
EE and CE
BioChem and Chem (not quite sure about this one)

Don't do it. It's too much stress and too linear. Broaden your horizons - take Comm, psych, business, polysci, etc.. something to round yourself out and make yourself more marketable.
