I currently own a Matrox G400 Max and will be putting together a new system, based on the new 760 atholon chipset. I am mostly a gamer, but enjoy dual head technology, for browsing the web while playing games, etc. I am looking at NVIDIA's MX chipset, the new ATI Radeon VE and the possibility that my G400 is just as good as the new cards. I even considered going with to seperates, but the fear of IRQ conflicts detours me from that route. What I want to know is which card has more features, is faster, and has best quality. If anyone knows of a web site where they reviewed all three I would be interested in seeing the reviews. Sharkey, Anand and Toms all are empty for these cards. I know the MX Gefore is a watered down Geforce, which is disappointing , and the Radeon is so new I dont know much about it! Any information would help!

I am using inno3d MX dual w/ two 15" LCD.

They are okay, but you will notice a bit of "lagging" while dragging a window from primary display to secondary.
Although, both of my LCD support 1024X768@75hz, but the secondary display on MX card only support up to 60hz.

Some program will open right in the middle of two display when start up, bit annoying.

Detonator driver are very stable, (which is most important to me)

If you like to read bit about twin view on MX, go to www.gotapex.com

I want more info on Radeon VE. I've been peeping GF2 MX for a while, but I can't ignore that the full-blown Radeon can hang with anything nVidia. What's the dealie?

What type of dual head features do you want? Matrox split from the normal windows multimonitor thing so going to another card might actually limit you somewhat.

If you do gaming, MX is probably going to be your best bet right now. It's gonna be pretty big improvement over G400 in 3d peformance. Like you said, Radeon VE is so new that no one really know how it is, but like MX, VE is a water down Radeon, so I don't think it will be that good...especially for someone using Win2k like me.

I am also thinking of getting a dual head solution to replace my TNT2Ultra/Voodoo3 3K combination. But right now, there isn't much that offers much better solution than what I have right now...., I will probably stick with 2 cards solution, since no dual head vendor provide top 3d performance....MX is not too bad, but still a bit behind the top of the line Geforce.

Video card manufacture always think dual head is for business market...that's why we will probably never gonna see a dual head card with top 3d performance. Hopefully that change sometime soon. But for now, the only way to get good 3D performance (really good) is to get two card solution.
