dual-head PCIe

I'm trying to buy a dual-head (as in dual vga port) graphics card with a PCI Express interface... but I can't find any at all. Does such a thing exist? If not, is there any way I can get a time scale on being able to get one? TBH I don't care whether it's nVidia or ATI chipset, or whether it's £50 or £500, I just need one.... like yesterday! If any of you guys could point me in the right direction I'd be much obliged.

Aren't they almost all that configuration? You're still good if they have DVI-I (actually better) since it will support either DVI-D or VGA and most ship with the adaptor.

hmmm I was mislead to believe that dual-head was some other mythical beast.... on to my next minor problem, it seems the slot in my dell gx280 is a "low profile" PCIe port, does that mean anything to anybody?

The only thing I can think of is that it might be located extremely close to another slot (PCI/AGP) and that you might not be able to share the adjacent slot with another card.

no, it's actually "low profile" as in half the height of a normal slot, where can I get hold of a card like that?!!

There are a few out there, but they're all really slow cards. You might be able to find a RADEON X300 half-height, or maybe a GeForce 6200.

this one should fit. If you search you might be able to find a few more.

Edit: Hmm. They don't seem to have dual-head half-height cards, though. Couldn't you just use a PCI graphics card?

No the PCI slots are half-height also. I used a bunch of Dells like this at work.

You could use a card like that Sapphire Mathias99 used if you have a replacement bracket for it (you have to unscrew the old one by unscrewing the bolts next to the VGA plug).

Otherwise, don't buy Dell next time 😉 .
