Dual FirePro Crossfire Advantages

I run many monitors and applications, none are graphics intensive, but I got 2 FirePro v7900 cards at a very good price (about $200 for both) and am looking at what I can do with them.

I know they support Crossfire Pro, but I am still unclear on what that would provide me (if anything).

So the question is, if you have an excess of GPU power, what would you do with it? would setting up crossfire provide anything? Can I leverage OpenCL for some number crunching (I do system modeling and am working on programming and development so that may help).

Any input would be helpful, trying to figure out what would to do with my latest impulse purchase.

Thanks!

These GPU's perform better than the 6.5 year old Radeon HD 6870 and below the 6950.

I am not sure what you will do with them, but any modern GPU will blow them out of the water performance wise.

I agree, but they are a significant step up from the NVS 295 that I was running and still have more power and capability than I need for graphics.

With all that excess power, the question is there something that crossfire will provide, or any way I can leverage OpenCL with them?
