Question Dual EPS ATX power connectors on Z690 boards

I was looking at the new Z690 boards and they all have seem to have more than one 8pin EPS power connector for the CPU. Is this required or highly recommended for 12xxx CPU's? I thought it was only for extreme overclocking, but seeing it on all of them has me wondering. I would think on the lower end boards the VRM's would be an issue before the lack of a second EPS connector would be. I was looking at getting new PSU during black friday sales to replace my 11 year old Corsair TX650 in preparation for a 12xxx or Zen 3D upgrade. Still trying to decide if I should wait for Zen 3D. Anyway, should I be looking for dual 8pin connections on a new PSU? Is 650 watts OK for a 12xxx, probably 12600K, and a mid range GPU. Assuming prices come back down to earth so I can replace my RX570 sometime in 2022.

Considering that the 12900K takes what, 400W with unlimited PL1 and PL2 (default on many boards), it's not just for "extreme overclocking" anymore.

Anyway, should I be looking for dual 8pin connections on a new PSU?

Yes, yes you should. Higher-end Z590 boards, as well as current and future AM4 B550 and X570 boards also need the dual EPS12V connectors.

I would honestly get an 850W PSU at least, especially considering high end video cards are likely to be more and more power hungry. Possibly CPUs as well.

I ordered the Seasonic PX-750 for $89. The 850 is $158, so I didn't think it was worth the difference.
