Ok, here is my plan. Dual P3 Coppermine 667 CPU's
Tyan Tiger 230 Dual board w/ ata100, agp4x etc.
256mb PC133 Micron SDRAM

I have Windows 2000 but have never used it !!! (Didn't make me to happy when I had to format after trying Dual Install with 98...)

Anyway, I am wondering if my Hardware that I would use in this system will be compatiable, I'll list the stuff and if you guys know about it one way or the other I would really apperciate it if you let me know ! Thanks in advance !

Hardware

ATI Rage Fury 32MB TV AGP2X or Radeon 32MB a little later on
Creative SB Live! X-Gamer
3Com 10/100 NIC
3Com USR 56k Modem or Diamond Supra MAX 56k
Linksys or Netgear 10MB Phoneline NIC
Hitachi 5x DVD (GD-2500)
Panasonic 8x4x32x IDE CD-RW
I know the external ZIP will work (I think I know anyway...)
Visioneer Paperport 3100B Scanner, probably have NT drive somewhere...
3Com Home Connect (forgot which number, like II or III or something) USB NetCam

Well I think thats about it, please help me if you know. Thanks !

All should work, Thought Im not sure about the webcam and the scanner. The ATI card should work, The radeon definately does. I hear though that ATI's win2k drivers "is suck".

Since Tiger 230 is such a new board, I don't think anyone can tell you if all your stuff gonna be compatible unless someone actually try it with the exact components. Tyan's Tiger 133, the board with same chipset that was introduced a few month ago didn't exactly received great rating with lots of compatibility problem when it first came out. But like most issues with dual mobo with via chipsets, patches and bios update were issued, and most compatibility problem are resolved. I would probably trust the second offering from Tyan since it is an excellent company. But again, via is really new in the daul chipset arena, and nothing is guaranteed.

If you want be absolutely sure about compatibility, you may want to go with Tiger 100, it is an old tested platform that many people liked. You can use CPU up to 850, with possibility of 1Gig (I heard buy.com sells 1 Gig @100FSB) if they support it in future bios update. I can tell you from personal experience that ata100 and agp4x is pretty much hype that doesn't give that much performance increase. So Tiger 100 will probably give you pretty much the same performance as 230 if not better.

If you must have tiger 230 with 133 FSB, ata 100 and 4x AGP, and worry about the compatibility, I would suggest that you wait until people used it and see how it is.2cpu.com has lots of info you may want to check out. Their forum is really helpful too.
