Dual CPU question

I'm getting the bug to get a dually CPU system set up. I have a Thunderbird 1.33GHZ (650-1.2G) Can I use this and another T-Bird 1.33 in a dually mobo?

I don't wanna spend alot. I'm sure there are better CPUS to do this with, but I figure if I use this 1.33 I have, I'll already be 1/2 way there. Plus dual mobos are probably still around the $150 mark anyway.

Also, while I'm here, XP supports dual CPUS, right?

if you REALLY don't want to spend a lot, an intel cpu with hyperthreading is almost like a dual cpu (it is recognized by my win2k as dual cpu)
another thing is that most programs can't seem to be able to use up 100% of it. the only exception off the top of my head is virtualdub - it fills up the cpu cycles quite nicely 😀
just a thought 😛

If it weren't for space, I'd be better off to just do another system.

For less than the cost of the dually mobo, I can go the normal route and get more power anyway. I may have to rethink this.

I damn near had a dually justified too. 😀 Crap.

I don't think the 1.33Ghz Tbirds are SMP capable. Supposedly, you could join some of the bridges to make it SMP capable though. You could probably find a couple Athlon MPs for fairly cheap. And the Opteron 240s aren't exactly expensive either.

an AMD XP will nopt be supported in a dual cpu set up, but if you want to make the xp into a mp, all you have to do it connect the first L5 gridge (thats right, just one) then the xp will be seen and work as an AMD MP.

Assuming it could of passed the SMP validation process, that is. 😛
