Dual core question

I recently purchased a dual core cpu. I booted up WoW and saw that I was capped at 64 FPS. I did some research and found that the microsoft patch fixes this bug in wow. I also learned that there are different patches for Dual core CPUs and some can affect certain games badly and some are good.

I'm trying to figure out what patches I need to install and what order to do it in to get to get the best performance from my PC. If someone could explain this or link an article for me, I would appreciate it SOO much.

Thx in advance guys!

From what i know is that ur fps cap same as ur fresh rate of your monitor, you can uncap it by in WOW setting uncheck vsync or on ur video card setting. That will uncap your fps in WOW or anygame i believe.

I haven't heard of dualcore patches being a bad influence on game performance. And you could remove the cap, but it's not likely to make any difference :p

from what i have been seeing there aren't too big of a variety of these dual core patches. Get one that is endorsed or affiliated with AMD.

and then there's that AMD Dual-Core Optimizer - it's purpose is to limit the dual-core to single core operation (for older apps/games)

Do not disable V-Sync for any other reason than benchmarking.

You will see tearing artifacts if it's disabled. Even if it does give you 100fps vs 60fps, chances are (if you have an LCD) that you can't display more than 60fps properly anyway. CRTs can do up to 100 or 120Hz at lower resolutions and so they can handle more FPS if your video card can deliver it.

Honestly though, the difference between 60 and 100fps is very minimal.
