dual channel with 1x 512MB, and 2x 256MB on NForce2?

I have a A7N8X Deluxe, right now I have 2 256MB sticks running dual channel, if I put in a 512MB in the mix (in the proper slot) will it run dual channel ok?

TIA

Is it DDR333? Someone correct me if I'm wrong (still sorta new with things like this), but from what I've learned here the 2x256 will run in dual channel even with a 3rd stick added.

Provided all the sticks play nice together DC will work just fine.

its DDR400, its Corsair XMS LL, 2-2-2-6 timings... I thought I read somewhere that the third stick can be twice the size of the other two and put in that slot off by itself and that this would allow for dual channel for all memory.... but I cant find anything explicitly saying this.... unless someone knows for sure I think I'm just gonna sell the ram and buy two 512MB's

If all 3 sticks of RAM are quality and can all run at the same timings and if you place the 512MB stick on it's own channel with the 2x256MB sticks on the other channel then there should be no problem. I say go for it.

I thought with DDR400 you could only use 2 slots. At least, with the manuals for some motherboards I've seen, this is what they recommend according to their configurations.

pspada has tested with 2 x 256 combined with a 512 and in UT2003 Botmatch benchmarking, which I'd consider "real-world," the difference in scores using the different arrangements of sticks was essentially none. So plug it in wherever you have room, and go have some fun 😎

I have 2x256MB and 1x512MB RAM (Twinmos, DDR 400) on my Shuttle AN35N-U board running DC and my benchmarks show like 3% advantage when DC compared to SC. But I guess that these 3% are within the limits of stadard variation! So basically DC (at least on nforce2 and Athlons) doesn't give you a hyper boost, but just the little tiny bit of extra 😉
