Dual Channel Memory problem

yet another problem. I have a dual ddr400 corsair memory stick (2 512). Windows only reads 512, setup correctly, swapped spots, still not working. Was gonna update bios but it says not to unless you now what you're doing (which i don't). Suggestions?

What's your mobo? Different mobos require dimms to be placed in different configurations. Dimms may be placed adjucent to each other or in alternate dimm slots.

Why do you say stick?
You need 2 stickS to have 1G. It is 512MB each stick.
