Dual Channel DDR on P4

Can you imagine the performance of such beast? :)

I wouldn't mind getting a P4 if there is a Crush for P4 released. Lower latency and even higher bandwidth than Rambus!

actually, the RDRAM activists would tell you that the performance would still be below dual channel RDRAM, since RDRAM has a much higher effective bandwidth even though its' theoretical is lower.

However, I think that bandwidth advantage would be negated by dual-channel DDR's latency advantages. So yes, it would be interesting, but since Nvidia is the only game in town that's going with 2 channel DDR, and Intel won't give them a license for the P3 or P4 buses, what are ya gonna do? :)

I would imagine that the DDR bandwidth would be even higher.

Isn't RDRAM quad-pumped 100 MHz? (or is it not synchronous to the P4's GTL+ bus?)

I remember reading somewhere a while back that Serverworks was working on a dual channel pc1600 only chipset for the p4. That might be nice, but since its from serverworks it would probably make the Tyan 760mp board look cheap.

RDRAM will still have more bandwidth (provided the DDR RAM isn't clocked too high) but DDR RAM will have much lower latencies. I would love to see side by side benchmarks of the two memory types when paired with a P4.

um... how is this thing gonna be so much more better than athlon 4 + dual channel DDR setup? care to explain?

<< what r u talking about? >>

Just wondering what it'd be like to have P4 with dual channel DDR.
