Dual channel DDR is really not that effective in real time application right?

I am wondering if I should do Dual DDR memory for Nforce 2 system setup, but my friend wants to keep the costs down. I can get pc3200 512mb for like $65 from that recent deal, and dual 256mb pc3200 would cost a lot more....maybe even around $80 or $100........I don't think it is worth it because I looked up reviews and it only gives like a 2-5% boost in most games........so its all theoretically twice as fast, but obviously not twice as effective or even a good sized fraction effective right?

On a P4, DCDDR does make a significant difference, but on an nForce/AMD combo, you can sleep soundly even on single channel mode.

1 512 stick now allows you to ultimately add more memory later....which is a good thing.

What he said. I noticed a considerable difference on my P4 machine in everyday apps (IE, Office apps, etc.)

I think everything is purely speculation, but in my incredibly stupid and uninformed opinion, I'd think it'd go down. Why? FIIK
