Dual Channel - Buy the Kit or save $$

I've been shopping for 2G of DDR 667 memory, and I keep noticing that the matched 'kits' for dual channel are much more expensive than buying 2 sticks of 1 Gig. E.g., This week at Newegg:

vs the same thing in a kit:

I understand that dual channel works best with 2 identical sticks of memory. But surely if you buy the 2 sticks at the same time from the same vender they'll be the same (or close enough?). Or is it worth the $20?
Anybody have a good answer? Experience just buying separate modules?

Thanks. Had to replace my 80286, so I'm a newb all over again.

Thanks. Broke down and bought two 1G SimpleTec Pc2-5300 modules. Booted straight into dual mode and never looked back.
