Is it possible to run dual channel memory with different size sticks. Like with a 256 and 512? Also when i have both sticks in running in dual channel or not it has to run at 333 even though its pc 3200 memory. I have tried the latest bios it just makes it even more unstable. If i try running them at 400 sometimes i cant boot up or other times it startsup and is very very unstable. Any help would be appreciated.

Is this generic ram? Who makes it? Have you set timings manually and tried bumping the vDIMM?

the sticks must be identical in order to run dual channel. Also, memory must run at the slowest speed in the system, so if 1 stick is PC2700, then they all run at that speed. It could, however, just be that the bios incorrectly set the default at DDR333, and you have to manually increase the bus to 200MHz so that you can use DDR400. I'd recommend selling the 256MB stick and buying another identical stick of the 512MB that you have. That way, you're sure to be able to run dual channel.
