i keep getting error from nero (most recent updates) about illegal disk errors. i use the same disks so i know its not the disks themselves. i tried burning 2 dvd's at the same time from the same hard disk partition. any idea where i could be going wrong? is there anything i can do to prevent coasters?

Burning two DVDs at the same time from the same disk is where you're going wrong. Hard drives only have one read head, so if you're sending two seperate data streams to two seperate burners that hard drive is having a really hard time keeping up. Not to mention both of your DVD-RW drives are on the same data cable, which is a big no-no.

To get it right do this:

Primary IDE cable: boot hard drive, DVD burner.
Secondary IDE cable: hard drive, DVD burner.

Burning from the boot hard drive to the secondary DVD burner and the secondary hard drive to the primary DVD burner is the only way you can burn two at the same time.
