What means you cannot boot from the winxp? When booting up, can you see a line with an offer to load your winxp? Or you may choose it but XP executes an error?

If my first assumption is right, you need to modify your boot.ini file or install any multiboot system loader

winxp pro is on C drive , win2003 server is in D drive.

Do you still have your Win XP installation CD? Try to boot from it and make XP Repair Install.

Did you consider installing Windows Server 2003 inside of (free) Virtual PC 2004? It works well and completely avoids having to reboot to run Windows Server.
