I finally got my dual boot system set up correctly. Now, I am trying to install drivers. I downloaded nVidia's Detonator drivers (the 98 version first while in 98) and installed them on that partition. Then, when I restarted and got everything working under 98, I switched over to the 2000 partition. I tried to install the same Detonator drivers (only the 2000 version) on the 2000 partition, and for some reason it gives me an error upon bootup about not being able to read the drivers. I don't know why it might be doing that. Here are the series of error messages that I get:
1) Before I log in as Administrator - "Windows - Unable to Load Device Driver; \SystemRoot\System32\Drivers\Fips.SYS\devicedriver could not be loaded. Error Status was 0xc0000221; OK"
then, I click OK
2) At the desktop - "Windows File Protection; Files that are required for Windows to run properly have been replaced by unrecognized version. To maintain system stability, Windows must restore the original versions of these files. Insert your Windows 2000 Professional CD now.; Retry, More Information, Cancel"
3) If I click Cancel - "Windows File Protection; You chose not to restore the original versions of the files. This may affect Windows stability. Are you sure you wnat to keep these unrecognized file versions?; Yes, No"
Then, I click yes (wanting to keep the drives that I have installed).
Is there anything else that I could try to get rid of this error? If anyone could help me out (give me a rundown on how to install hardware drivers correctly when dual booting), I'd greatly appreciate it. Thanks!
