Dual boot w/ format and reinstall.

I have win98 win2k and winxp dual booted. I generally run in win2k and my registry has become rather sloppy and it would be more convient to reinstall than to go clean it up. Could I format the win2k partition and reinstall it to the same partition and have my dual boot remain intact? If so could you point me to some specific directions if it is more complex than just formatting and installing?

That's how it works. Should have any trouble assuming you choose the correct partition. 🙂

I think that I had a similar query to yours. I was running Win2K and wanted to install 98Se to be able to run some old programs. I did not particularly want to format and start again installing 98Se then Win2K to provide a dual-boot facility. So, I created a new partition (D) and hid the Win2k partition (C). I installed 98Se into the new partition (D) and all the necessary drivers and programs to make it workable. Then I installed Win2K as an upgrade into a new partition (E) which provided me with the dual-boot facility. Then I overwrote the new Win2K partition (E) with my previously hidden partition (C). On boot up Windows uses the same MBR and sees the list of 2 operating systems. It doesn't know that I have replaced the contents of one of the partitions. So I now have 98Se and 2K without having installed 98Se in the first place.
I used Norton Ghost and PowerQuest's Partition Magic to save and move partitions around.
