After reading a few websites, I always install Windows first and then install Linux. Have never had a problem with dual booting when installing that way. The linux installations I have used have made it easy to dual boot. (RH9, Mandrake 9 through 10.1, RHEL)

Here is an older page talking about dual booting Windows and RH9: dual boot

And an older Screensavers article along with a video: screensavers

If you install windows first, grub will see the ntloader and take it into account. If you install windows last, it will screw up your linux boot loader.

My experience anyway.

The Windows bootloader does not play nice. Install it first, and use LILO or GRUB.

Make a small partition for windows, install it. Boot linux install cd, use rest of space, install grub/lilo, reboot, enjoy.
