Dual Boot Question

I have read the FAQ's and searched here but still am unclear on something. I currently have a 40GB HDD that is partitioned as 8.5GB for Win98SE and programs; and the remainder for data, mp3's, etc. I would like to dual boot with WinXP Pro. Is it possible to do this without having to reformat the drive? I have Partition Magic 7.0. I was considering splitting the 8.5GB partition in half and adding Xp to the new 4.25GB created there. Would that work ok? I'm confused.

Thanks for the quick reply. Would that be the best way to do it? Do I need to make the newpartition bootable in PM7 or will XP installation handle it?
