Dual Boot Question - Need Help!

Ok I've dual-booted my system before, but usually I installed redhat first and used grub or whatever bootloader that came with it to boot windows xp. My question is...If my c: drive is just one partition (with windows xp on it)...can I install redhat on my second hard drive and be able to boot windows and linux from grub even though they are on different physical drives? I made the mistake of only creating one large partition on my first drive and would prefer not having to reinstall windows if possible. Sorry I'm a noobie when it comes to linux. Thanks for any help.

Also, what distribution of Linux would you reccomend? I've always just used redhat, but I'm sure it isn't the only good one out there.

If you want to try something a little more advanced I would recommend Debian. It is easy to use, install is pretty easy if you know your way around Linux...even just a little bit.

Thanks guys. I have been trying to decide on Debian or Fedora. I might just download both and see which one I like better. Thanks for the advice.
