dual boot problem

i have 2 hard drives in my system and one has vista on it and the other is windows xp. but for some reason after i restart it doesn't give me a menu to choose operating systems. any way to solve this?

From the short description, it sounds like you pulled the other harddrive prior to installing either OS. Therefore, neither OS has any idea the other one exists - therefore, no menu.

You could edit the XP boot.ini file and point to the Vista installation as another option, but the later versions of Vista removed the boot.ini information and put it into BCDEdit (bcdedit.exe in the command line). So editing the boot.ini may not be suffice.

This link should give you the necessary information on Vista and setting up a dualboot menu.

Good luck.

my xp drive is on sata, and my vista drive is on ide. so when installing vista i just told it to install it to the ide drive, i didn't pull it out can't i just edit the boot.ini file on xp instead
