Dual-Boot on Dual-CPU

OK, let me try again. This board is filling up so fast that my earlier thread disappeared before it could get a single response.

If I have a dual-CPU system, would I be able to set up a dual-boot Win2k/Win98 configuration? You see, Win2k can deal with two CPUs, but could there be problems with Win98 in that regard? Or should I somehow tell it to ignore the second CPU?

wont be a problem...win98 wont see the second cpu. nothing needs to be done on your end.

I have dual CPU's and while I haven't used Win98 on it, it's my understanding that Win98 will just run using 1 CPU. I do not know this to be fact however, and it may depend on the hardware itself.

I would try to use a spare hard drive, if possible, and load Win98 it to test before I performed the actual installation unless someone here has done this.

No need to freak out. 98 will install and run, but will only use the one CPU.

Cool. Thanks, guys. :)

Now, for the next question. Suppose I want to add more memory, in access of 512 MB. Mainly, for use with Win2k, that being my main OS. But I've heard that Win98 might not like it. Anything to be done about it?

I figured there were people here who had run Win98 on a dual-processor machine.

As far as memory goes Win98 will recognize as much as your motherboard will hold. The low memory limits you see floating around are just myths.

yes.. Win98 can handle up to 4GB of RAM.. now will it use that to the fullest like 2K would?.. not likely
but it wouldn't cause a problem. :)

It's widely known that the NT kernal is more efficient, but that doesn't mean Win98 won't use the memory. If you have the need the memory will help in Win98.
