I have 2x 150gb WD Raptors set in RAID 0.

I formatted and partitioned the RAID Array into 2 partitions.

I have XP on one partition and Vista on the other.

I did install drivers for each partiton for each operating system.

My question is: if I have a game that I plan to play and want it to be accessable on both operating systems, so I have to install that game twice? Once on the XP and then again on the Vista partition? Or is there some way to install it once and have it work on both?

Thx

No way to do it, you have two separate operating systems, therefore you have to install everything twice.

Actually I have run into a few games that will work in either OS on a dual-boot system even if only installed on one provided all required files are visable, however in the vast majority of cases this won't work.

However often it is possible to install a game in the same location twice, thus avoiding using double the HD space & still be able to play it without issue in either OS, some games work fine with this method & some don't like it ... the only way to see if a given game will work is to give it a try ...he most common problems IME involve saved games.

I can play most my games from either my Vista 64 or from my XP pro.
I never install twice.
I install the games on a third partition accessible by both OS.
There are some steps you may need to take, depending on the game, to set up the game on the second OS.

For some games, like Steam, it is as simple as just creating a shortcut to the executable on the start menu of the second OS.

For some games, like Stalker, you need to create a symbolic link (called "junction" as well) to map the saved games to the same folder on both OS.

For some games, like Far Cry, you need to copy about 5 dll files from the first OS to the second.

Halo is the only game I was not able to figure out! I am talking about the original Halo, not Halo 2.

most games will work on both, i just copy the saved game files across sod symbolic links D:
But remember you can only patch the games on the pc that they were installed on, no registry entries no patch.
Also EAlink games dont seem to work very well unless their run from the os they were installed on.
But then EaLink sucks and so do EA, shame their games are so good.
