Dual AMD Board Appears In Japan

No I think it's dollar b/c 100 yen ~ 1dollar. This is not a $9 board. I haven't been to Japan for a while now, but my impression was that things cost lots more there. But there's no way they can sell these things for 900, maybe 300-400 is more realistic.

Ouch, that is one expensive board! I would hope/expect the price to drop at least 50% by the time it reached the US. I guess I won't be buying a dual Athlon board for a long time 🙁

Its about time!!!
I wouldn't fret though, it should be about 200 -250bucks by the time it reaches here....I remember when the Pentium2 450 came out it was like $700, a year later they were practically giving them away.
I'm glad I didn't upgrade recently like I was planning....Now I can just imagine Dual Thunderbirds(or even Mustangs) chompin' away at SETI... 😛

#1 Its JUST showing up, and like everything else the first days you see it, it is very expensive.

#2 This is a server board big time... all 64-bit PCI slots and SCSI.

well since it has integrated lan, scsi and is designed for a 1u rack mount case Im not surprised at all it cost 900. These arent made for your desktop systems.

Sorry, it is not going to be cheap. These are not lame desktop mainboards. These are aimed at enterprise not to play StarCraft. Plus its Tyan so their are slightly more expensive.

Should be around 500 bones when it hits the US. But this board is loaded with stuff for use in server enviroments.

I hate to disagree but i think it will be about 950 usd when it hits here. IT is a brand new technology, has integrated scsi (not cheap) plus is a server board with all the server goodies. Sorry guys i don't think you will find this one for under 750.

That is one BADASS MUTHA-BOARD HMMmmm..... I just bought a server case.....hmmm.

Dual cpu up to 266fsb
4 freekin' gb pc2100 ram
dual u160 scsi up to thirty scsi devices
dual lan ports

Oh baby, gimme gimme gimme 😛

i cannot wait!! i have been waiting for this board for a long time now. i have been waiting to upgrade my K62-500 with 384MB for over a year. i am going to put 1gig of pc2100 and 2 1.2ghz procs for my next system. i was really starting to think that dual athlons were going to be a myth. woohoo!!!😀

Tyan has high-balled everytime they pre-release a new board.

Expect this series to drop to the $300 range inside of the next month.

A dual socket A MB, with 5 64bit PCI slots, AGP Pro, dual LAN, dual adaptec SCSI160 controller, among other things for $300? Keep dreaming Madrat. There are $700 dual socket 370 boards that lose the feature competition with this board. This is a server board through and through, price is no object for the market it is intended for.

"A ServersWorks board with a similar feature set runs only $350-375."

Ok, let's see one.

I don't think this board is going to be $900 when it reaches decent market availability. But to expect it to be below $500 is wishful thinking.

Don't order from retail and you'll find them. They are there, available overnight for under $400.

If I told you who to do business with that wouldn't be too savvy. 😉
