Going the dual core route the single cores are pushed into a lower price point.

$650 would be a steal... You really think a card with TWO of the new NVIDIA cores on it is going to sell for the MSRP of ATI's single core flagship? Not a chance.

I'm would guestimate it costing over $900

Can't say a dual GPU single card solution wasn't going to be forthcoming but I expected it to come from the likes of ASUS with a very limited edition card (like the 7800GT dual GPU cards). In a way it does make sense. If you can get someone to buy two video cards and spend over $1000 on those cards, why not try to get them to spend even more money? This "news" (always take the Inq with a grain of salt) if it's true doesn't affect 95% of us. Depending on the price, it might make SLI a more viable option. By that I mean if it's cheap enough, it might make a dual GPU single card solution to be the preferable method over a two card SLI config for those thinking of going SLI. And of course the "more money than brains" crowd will buy two of them for quad SLI.

This further goes to illustrate that AGP still fulfills the requirements of todays video demands adequately and that 8x PCIE is more than enough to run today's best video cards. The 16x mobo's are in many ways a waste of money if you can get the same features (minus 16x PCIE slots) for lesser money on an 8x PCIE board.

I'm happy to see this, since as was mentioned, this is another great way to avoid using SLI

I'd much prefer one dual GPU card than two single GPU cards.

Well, logically, according to 7900GT being 299 and 7900GTX being 499..

Then, 7900GT Duo is 299x2 and 7900GTX Duo 499x2.

But last time i heard, it was going to heard $799 (7900GTX duo?!?)from bit-tech.
