Hi,
Building a new system and was considering the 7900 GT or a single 7900GTX but it appears this is a good deal for dual 7800 GTX 256. These are branded dell, will they work on an ASUS SLI MB? Is this a good way to go, or is the 7900 series single card a better way to go?

any advice appreciated.

Where did you find dual 7800GTXs for $399 CAD? That's a nice deal.

Dual 7800GTX would cream a single 7900GT and probably a 7900GTX also unless you went over the 256MB frame buffer.

Sounds like a heck of a deal. Apparently the extra length of the card is simply attached to the metal rail on the top and unscrews from the main PCB leaving you with a regular length card.

I'm assuming this is a package deal for two separate 256mb 7800GTXs?

I'm not sure it'd fit in my case or I'd order it in a sec. My dad has a few friends in Canada.

You would take the extension bracket off. That is just a normal 7800GTX with a 7800GTX 512 cooler and an extender. That isn't a dual core card. I hope they send you two of those...

Looks like you can't order it from the US, at least through the regular checkout. It will only allow you to choose a Canadian Province, not a US State.

Is that actually two cards or a single SLI capable card? That price seems ridiculously low for two cards; I think it might be a typo or something.

called them and confirmed, NOT dual cards or cores. MISLEADING description. Sorry for the original post...

That sounds about like Dell.

Geez, if it doesn't mean you get two cards, what exactly does the term "Dual" refer to in "Dual 256MB Nvidia GeForce 7800 GTX with SLI Technology" ?

Since this was listed under 'accessories', my best guess would be that it was originally intended as an 'upgrade' option for a system that already has one 7800GTX (like: upgrade for $399 to "Dual 256MB NVIDIA GeForce 7800GTX").

They could just be idiots, though.

Bah this isn't a good deal...

7900GT would be a better choice...
