Question Dual 3995WX Content Creation Performance.

Now that Intel has released the Xeon W9 3495WX with Underwhelming performance. Basically if you are trying to get into HEDT, you have the option to use the Zen2 based ThreadRipper PRO 3995WX and if you want to be even more Hardcore, just get two of those and put it on a EPYC Server Motherboard(there are multiple brands that while not officially supporting Threadripper CPUs they work).

Yes, all threadrippers are designed for 1P , but someone figured out that SOME EPYC motherboards will support 2 threadrippers.

No modding required, no even modded BIOS required.

Not even pencil mod required, we have it easy nowdays.



I remeber pencil modding 2 Athlon XP's into Athlon MP's and building workstation with them.

This is what I was told. This only works on MB that are designed to only use 3 GMI socket to socket comunication links. All Threadripper PRO have GMI links exposed as oposed to EPYC P series CPU that has them fused. So MBs detect this an chains them together

These guys are the reason why AMD have no choice but to INCREASE the HEDT prices.
Im sorry this is AMD's fault they can't figure out how to lock the CPU for HEDT and not kill there own enterprise line.
Instead they make us pay enterprise prices for non enterprise gear, killing HEDT all together, then blame us for not buying HEDT.

The price for Threadripper PRO is so obnoxiously expensive as of late, that you need to think hard if you should get one or a full on EYPC.

Well, I argued before that they should rename Threadripper Pro to Epyc Workstation, the price difference is not there anymore, and there's even some cross compatibility which should be expanded, the difference being that the Workstation parts are unlocked. Only the use of the consumer oriented name "Threadripper" still irritates.

Will be interesting to see whether there's any truth to the rumour that AMD plans two lines of Threadripper again with Zen 4, one with 8 and another with 4 channel memory. The latter could be a return of a more consumer oriented pricing, though I don't expect the initial low pricing to ever return.
