Delay due to lack of coupons. Could we please get this over with? Those DTV commercials are so annoying.

update: Congress Changes DTV 'Hard' Date to June 12

What makes them thinks the people who aren't ready now are going to be ready four months from now?

And after they keep on repeating the date, too. I especially hate that commercial with the guy who says how to remember the date: as a locker combination, as a quarterback calling the play...

If a lot of broadcasters raised money with Feb. 17th in mind and are allowed to make the switch anyway, then what would be the point in delaying it? As far as I understand it, if that station makes the switch the people who weren't ready won't be able to receive those channels anyway.

If the owner isn't worried about an obsolete television, why should Congress concern itself?

It's up the the owner really. I have a tv that I'm planning dump once it's obsolete.

Ready or not they should go ahead.

It's so good and comforting to know that our government has that much extra time on their hands and that there are no larger pressing issues than how some people might watch TV.

We plebs need to be entertained to keep us happy and complacent.

If I thought that people who actually needed the coupons didn't get them then I would say please help them or postpone it. The whole coupon thing was an utter joke and I would guarantee that a lot of people who got them either didn't need one or could easily afford one. Delaying it just goes to show how poorly the govt runs any type of program.

Instead of complaining over the web here, how many of you have written your congressman and senators?

I have wrote both senators and my congressman telling them to not delay.

Funny... I would think that leaving the transition plan in place would help stimulate the economy! Think of all of the new TV's that older people will be buying on February 18th when they realize that their old relic of a TV from the 1980's doesn't work anymore!

This also postpones Verizon's and AT&T's rollouts for 4G wireless broadband infrastructure... so much for the Obama administration supporting the proliferation of nationwide broadband :|

It does suck that companies and organizations (e.g. PBS) may be losing some serious cash to massive idiocy in the government. Especially so at times like this the government should not be acting any more irrationally.

Did it last week. Can only hope those two voted against it.

-edit-
I'm struggling to find the actual vote, looks like it was unanimous in the senate. Goes to the house now. :(
