I just finished Watching 'Catch Me If You Can' on my kicking stereo here at home.

I fianlly got the 5.1 system now that I am using more speakers, and as it should be, a DTS track is the frist thing I heard.

WOW! It was better than the movie theater!

My dreams will be in 24-bit tonight!

Dolby Headphone for me still. My uncle's got a 70" widescreen Pioneer Elite with a Dolby Digital EX/DTS 7.1 setup and it still doesn't beat my old 17" Trinitron, Grado SR-80s and PowerDVD XP with Dolby Headphone technology. Nothing else comes close. Plus I can watch movies as late as I want without disturbing anyone.

hehe, welcome to the 90s. Oh wait, I mean the 00s. ;) jp jp, but yeah, ain't it nice? If you think Catch Me If You Can is great, then you got a lot more movies to watch in DTS. :D

And speaking of good movies for DTS...just got back from Finding Nemo...the whale scene should be killer for all subwoofers...can't wait. Just like the initial living room scene with Boo in Monsters Inc. crazy stuff.

Seriously though, the music in the movie was outstanding through the reciever. It just ddestroys music quailty. Even at insane volumes, the flutes just sound so REAL.

Hey it may just be me, but Dolby Headphone is more immersive. I dunno, try it out sometime and see what you think. I'll admit that the Dolby Headphone experience is a lonely one (can't really watch with others!) and sitting on a couch at my uncle's is more comfortable than staring at a PC screen on my sh!tty chair!

I think "Gangs of New York" is supposed to be DTS 7.1 compatible...not sure though...

I'd thought no one would ever ask.

Onkyo tx-sr600
2 Mirage Frx-5's (fronts)
Athena Ps-400 10'' 100watt-400peak Suwoofer

Since I can't afford more speakers I was listeming to everything in stereo. ALthoug hgood, I added other speakers I ahd at home to help out in the interim

2 Technics Floorstander(Rears) ..not sure of the model number
1 Aiwa Center Channel.

Pretty Much the Fronts and the Sub are the juice..the rears are set to small and so is the center as they nice tweeter and mids.

Imagine when I get mone yand get some Paradigms paired with my Mirage's

hehe, yes, just wait til you get some Paradigms in there. ;) I was gonna say, your soundstage is gonna sound rather weird with such different speakers all around.

<---Loves his new Studio 40s. I know, they're not the best, but I don't mind it. :)

What's interesting that the Aiwa Speaker is just the left Speaker from a prologic mini-system upstairs...I figured it could handle its high's and hih-mids and it did fabulously.

So Much for timbre matching but then again I have no money so it'll ahve to do... and very well.

Blows that Onkyo HT in a box system out of the water.

I have Mirage FRx 7s, center and rears in my family room paired with a 10" Velodyne CHT-10 sub. Sounds nice.

Mirage makes some nice, warm sounding speakers.

Nice.

I agree about the soundstage. Taht is one of the stronsuits of my mirages's. Their Soundstage is so great that it's practically imeasurable.

To make sure that there was no problems, I adjust the Levels until they even'ed out, and messed with the recievers settings. Sounds good to me.

Sweet. If anything I'd have to disagree with you. THis thigns are nery neutral, making everything sound fantastic.

The sound I heard out of them during this move however proves you right right in this respect. The soundtrack was the best thing I can remember hearing.

That's what "warm" is. Natural. Not tinny. Especially after you break them in. They sound warmer after time.

I was actually planning to get frx-7's and the use the 5's for rears, but it seems like Paradigms might be nicer.

Still, Paradigms are supposed to be a little bright, so what I have right now never tampers with the sound and that is what I like.
