DTS Decoder Plug-in for Winamp?

Hey guys, I have a sound blaster audigy 2 plat sound card, and was wondering of there is any good DTS decoder plugins for winamp so I can listen to my music digital styles? Thanks.

No it's just regular mp3's. My creative media source GO player has a DTS option but I just don't like the player at all, it's so buggy.

The file has to be encoded in DTS to be decoded in DTS.

But the Creative software player has a DTS option that will generate playback regardless if the file is encoded in DTS or not. It's in the Media Source Go player under DTS Neon 6 settings.

DTS Neo 6 is not DTS like you are thinking of. DTS Neo 6 is a way to turn analog audio into pseudo surround(faked). To use this you need a reciever capable of using a DTS Neo 6 decoder on the signal which is relatively new. If you don't have this you can use pro logic/logic 7/pro logic II instead. They all provide similar results. But these two will need to be features on your receiver/speaker system

It does but you are confusing two different things. DTS is not the same as DTS neo: 6

There isn't a "THX decoder" afaik. THX is just a certification label some things have slapped on them.

Rleemhui is right about the DTS neo 6 thing. All these prologic type effects are taking a stereo signal and analyzing it to try to get surround out of it.

If I understand what they're doing it basically something like
The portion of the signal that is in both the L and R signal goes to the center (vocals)
Independent L and R signals go to the front L and R
Out of phase info gets played on the surrounds.

I'm way oversimplifying what the different technologies do, put I'm pretty sure that's the basics of it.

WTF, that sucks ass then, I actually thought my sound card has decoders in it 🙁 Is there any way to get THX and DTS sound on your comp then? Perhaps by connecting your sound card to reciever then that to my klipsch speakers?

THX is nothing stop thinking its something special.

You can get DTS just not DTS NEO:6 unless your receiver supports it. Just use CMMS3D same type of deal

If you're going to get a receiver, ditch the klipsch promedias.

Even if you do connect your soundcard to your receiver, but it's still not going to give you DTS from a stereo signal. It will get you DTS neo6 as I've described above.

In order for you to get true DTS (or DD for that matter) the source material has to have been recorded in discrete channels for all the different speakers. On a DVD for example, if it supports DTS, there is a track for each speaker in your system. On music, there are only 2 tracks (left and right). There is NO WAY you're going to get true DTS from a stereo source.

The only thing that comes close is the soundcards that do realtime DD encoding (the soundstorm solutions and some newer cards like the X-Mystique) but all they're doing if they output DD from a stereo source (I'm not sure on this) is they're doing a pro logic sort of decoding and then encoding that into DD.

THX is a certification, nothing more. Basically instead of 5%tolarance on equipment you have to have 2% to get a THX cert for example. Its just another way for lucas to make money.
