DTR 64 looking pretty sweet

22796 3DMarks and a decent OC, 2000Mhz>>> 2500Mhz, seems the stepping is better than the desktops.

sweet, glad i held off from jumping on the A64 train long enough to discover this

Still hard to justify 150% the price for maybe 30-35% more performance over an XP moblie/NF2 setup.....to my cheap arse at least...

OK! I've been contemplating upgrading to either a P4 2.8E (1MB L2/800MHz) or and Athlon 64 3200+ DTR.

Now, I'm leaning much more toward the DTR 64 chip. Any ideas/input?

Current system:
Athlon TB 1800+ @ 2300MHz w/ 1.57V (200x11.5) Water cooled: 19C/29C
ASUS A7N8X Dlx v2.0
Samsung PC3200 (512MB)
Antec True480
Dual 80Gb Maxtors

Look at it this way give the Pentium a 500 mhz overclock and it will probably catch fire or something, overclock or no the Athlon DTR runs way, WAY cooler then the prescott. I could never justify buying a prescott, it doesn't even have 64 bit support, in a year or less that 64 bit feature will give u 15-20% more performace.

The DTR 3200+@da egg is the newer CG stepping so that would explain quite a bit, along with the lack of IHS making cooling more effective.

I would be nervous about crushing the core on one of those, especially since they have no rubber feet to help out.

Ya it would be risky to put something like the coolermaster hyper 6 on it

Actually the Venus 12 I use is as simple as setting it down *square block in square hole easy* and turning a lever about 200 degrees until locked. The chances of chipping or crushing the core are virtually zero
