DSL!!!!

Yay! I'm gonna get DSL on the 10th of this month. I'm sooooooo happy. Since we moved I had to get back on dialup and decided that I couldn't take it any more. lol (I was on cable before we moved, so the change was just traumatizing. )

Just thought I'd share my joy.

How much do all of you pay for DSL? I'm curious about the price variations.

i'm going to miss broadband, but i got DirecTV last night, which will keep me company! I'll be able to surf the net over my dialup from the comfort of my couch!

RossMAN - Mine is free the first month, $29.95 the next two months, and then $49.99 thereafter. I was paying for a dialup ISP before (CompuServe) and I just got out of that contract a little while ago. I figured that I was saving money from that so why not? lol I just HATE dialup.

I used to have Southwestern Bell (SWB) DSL. 1.5down/256 up. I regularly saw 120kb/s which isn't bad. Payed $50/mo + regular phone bill. In the 2+ years I had it, it was down three times for maybe 1/2 day each time. I was happy with it.

I switched to Roadrunner. I live in "poor" complex...not many people can afford RR...but I can. Hell, 1/2 of them are Section 8, but that's another rant in another thread. The point is: All your bandwith belong to me.

So, now I pay $40/mo + cable bill. I regularly see 230-250kb/s down. However, RR has been down quite a bit...not lately, but that's b/c of all the bitching I've had to do...I think they replaced the lines in my neighborhood. Literally.

Actually it did get cancelled in a way. The phone line here was in my cousin's name. She's going to be moving out with her boyfriend so she cancelled the phone in her name. Her mom is going to put it in her name. (She's at work right now.) When she does, I'll get DSL ordered again. *Sigh* I was all set!
