my friend has cable, his speed use to be 8000mbit/384mbit, after capped his goes down to 3000mbit/128mbit.
This is still not bad compared to what Im getting, 1000mbit/128mbit on DSL. To those that are getting good upload speed of 256mbit/384mbit, expect them to drop it 128mbit soon. I think it to make people pay more for T1 if they want better upload speed, which is a hefty 600 bucks a month.

theres SDSL, which has the same up/down... costs more, but not as much as t1.

i have cable here in fremont getting about 3.5Mbps/128Kbps transfer rates and am pretty pleased with it. i had pacbell adsl about 1 - 1 1/2 yrs ago, and only got on average 1.2Mbps download transfers.. dont really remember what uploads were. both were great. but based on my experience with cable and dsl, id definately recommend cable to any one of my friends. :)

yeah i don't buy the SBC network commercials saying that cable has slow downs. I have not seen any slow down no matter what time of day for my cable. i run those tests during supposed peak hours from dslreports and nothing is different.

as for T1. my only complaint about cable is my UL. it's capped at 300kbps right now. i don't expect them to drop it. my DL is about 3500kbps. so I'm totally happy. only reason to get T1 would to set up a real server which I don't need at this time.

DSL i think sucks big time. I have a bunch of friends that have it and i never see them get above 1500kbps DL and 128kbps UL. i feel sorry for them because in every case they are either paying the same amount or more for lower speeds. oh well.

any other reason to get a T1 pulled here? i'll wait until fiber to home becomes affordable. it'll be soon (not that soon). :)

if you've read some of my other posts regarding stocks, you'll know that i am heavily invested in fiber companies. well on top of that my father has a fiber company as well. but damn, i gotta love all the new tech that's coming out for the gigabit race. a couple years ago hitting 10Gbps and 60Gbps now with terrabit routers. hehehehe, although a home would never need that kind of usage, fiber to home should be able to bring at least 10mbps ot the home UL/DL.

The thing to keep in mind with a T1 is that it is a dedicated, versitile circuit. When that line goes down, they can look specifically at that line and can often times have it back up in minutes. The same is not the case with DSL or Cable. Often times an incompetent tech is sent out days later to resolve the issue, if it still exists.

The other thing about a T1 is that you can break it down and use part of it for voice, part of it for data, and part of it for video, all off of the same line. For a business, a T1 is a very smart choice.

t1 is ke a biger brother to dsl<><> which is all digital lines. On the other hand, cable is analog, please don quote me. i'm not really sure, but cable bandwith is limiited when there are peolpe in ur neghborhood having cable tc, etc.. All i'm tryign to say is that not all cable user get the joy of using their service all the time, not all plaes are desserted like the place that never slow down.
most peeps are using satelite, dsl nowaday...it's all digital!!!
analog is a thing in the past.

The US IS SUCK for high speed internet. In Canada I was paying $40/month + $10 for each extra IP for 4mbps/1mbps - and its been like that for a good two years! Now in US I'm paying about $35-40/month US for 4mbps/128kbps! 15k/sec uploads are mucho suck.
