I've been getting slow speeds during traffic hours for the past month. I've been talking to tech support(and the supervisor), and they said they can't do anything about it because it's due to network congestion, and that's supposedly normal.
I've never had this problem before in the 5 years or so I've been on verizon DSL, and now they're just leaving me in the dark. The supervisor said it's part of their terms of service that I may get less than half the advertised speed during traffic congestion hours. I thought one of the main selling points of DSL is that you get stable speeds regardless of network congestion.
So are they sh!ttin me here?

DSL, like everything else, is affected by network congestion. Your connection to the service provider isn't shared within the entire neighborhood like cable, but the service provider still only has limited bandwidth for all the traffic.

Remember! The internet is not something you just dump something on. It's not a big truck. It's, it's a series of tubes!

as OulOat said, DSL gives you your own pipe to the ISP. however, the ISP has a limited bandwidth. maybe try a different ISP?

You're on the wrong tube.
