DSL Speed?

Hi all,

I am looking at getting DSL and I am not entirely sure what 1.5Mbps down is equal to. Does that translate to a download rate of 150KB/sec?

Thanks for any info!

That is the speed in bits per second.

So 1.5 million bits per second.

8 bits in a Byte so divide by 8 to get measurement in Bytes.

But real world transfers with overhead and whatnot, dividing by 10 gives a good rough estimate. So you are correct. 1.5 megabits/sec = 150 KiloBytes.

b = bit
B = Byte

My old DSL was 1.5 mb down and 896 kbps up. Max of 160 k/Bs down and 90 kbps up.

Nothing like my new wireless connection. Bye bye DSL and your sh!tty DHCP...
