DSL reseller DEMANDS home address!

I am siging on with dslextreme, a local dsl reseller. They demand my physical site residence address altho they already have my telephone number, drivers license, etc. Why do they need my home address? Is it for security reasons or to match the phone number? Is this a std protocol for DSL resellers? Thanks.

They need your physical home address to know where to install the equipment, to know if you are in their service area, and, most important, to know if you are close enough to the nearest central office to actually get a usable DSL signal at your location.

They already established all of that-they detd that Im 9000 ft from the nearest CO using my telephone number. They will be emailing me bills so they dont have to mail them. Its a self install so they dont need to come out and do anyy install. They have a nearby MBE address to ship the modem to. So, why else would they push for a home address? Thanks.

lol... and how would you like them to ship to you? Or are you coming out of your burrow long enough to get the modem (watch out for the sun... )?

Really, just give them the physical address... I'm sure they have to be able to match things up. Besides, shipping to a PO box is generally a no-no for most companies..

Hahaha.... my thoughts exactly. Cops get the address from dslexteme and all they find is the mailbox etc store. Store calls to tell you the cops are looking for you. Quick destroy all the kiddie porn on the computer before they come. What if they do a search for you name and find your real home address through your phone number instead through the phone company. hmmm... yeah.. better keep the stuff on a removeable hard drive with a big magnet nearby.
