DSL Question

bunker

Lifer
I'm getting DSL installed Thursday...errr...tomorrow. It's from BellSouth in Georgia, but it's supposedly (sp?) different. It's IFITL (Integrated Fiber In The Loop). From what I understand they have to install some kind of special network interface on the outside of my house and then run CAT-5 through the wall to the PC. Anyone heard of this or know anything else about it?

Not sure if this is the right forum to post this (newbie if you can't tell). If I should post elsewhere, please let me know.

I have no idea, but this is the right forum to post the question. There are all kinds of whiz bangs hanging out in here.🙂

Interesting. First, I didn't know that they were deploying IFITL micro-DSLAMs yet. That gives me hope that my IFITL neighborhood may eventually get DSL too (which will give me a choice between DSL and cable which is always nice).

I have heard of this. You will probably use Marconi equipment. I'm surprised that they can't use the telephone lines in the house instead of running CAT5, but I can see that this is a potential solution.

Should be a good connection with lots of upgrade potential should you ever want to have faster DSL. And eventually you may be able to get other services over the line too - that's the eventual plan anyway.
