DSL Providers

In my area, Verizon is garbage. Service goes out all the time, and their customer service is non-existant. Even though Earthlink is $20 more a month, the service rarely goes out, the customer support people seem to be better trained (at least in customer relations), and they give you 20 hours a month of dial-up in case your DSL goes out. More money, but it's well worth it.

As always, YMMV.

I use Verizon at our marina and the service has been good. A lightning strike took out the wireless antenna and the DSL was still working. When the power goes out, the batteries keep the RT's going so there is still access.

We will be getting FIOS next year. Looks like I'll have to make permanent residence on the boat!

Cheers!

I use RCN megamodem cable. I get 7mbs dl and 800k up. Thats plenty fast for me. Was gonna go DSL but couldn't beat the speed.

I had Earthlink DSL for a couple of years, service was great, no major problems during that span. Switched to Earthlink Cable (TimeWarner) only because they had a special promo going on.
