DSL or Cable?

I have been on Roadrunner cable here on the Florida east coast since it was available 3 or 4 years back. It has always been good, stable and seems very fast. However they charge $45/month. Bellsouth has been in my area for a year or two now and are now offering their high speed DSL service for $25 a month. I have a friend north of here who has been on Bell South for a couple of years and is very happy with them as well (cable is unavailable to him). I was wondering if people here in the know have a preference and a feel for what, if any, speed difference there is. It would seem that it is time for Road Runner to become more pricing competitive. Thanks for any information in advance.

Depends on your location and your local carriers. But generally speaking cable is faster then dsl.

Generally speaking it's a lot too... at least around here in Ohio. Our DSL is 1.5 M download, but only 128 K upload. Like I said, I typically get 3 M download and 384 K upload...

It all depends on what you want high speed for really.

Yep, completely depends on what is available to you in your area. I think the perception that cable is typically faster is the there are so many dsl providers giving adsl 1.5 down connection availability where cable is generally 2Mb or better and seemingly upgrading randomly all the time. dsl has plenty of potential to be blazing fast. You just don't see it as often as you see the 5/384 cable connections. Doesn't mean you can't get smokin dsl in your area. Check dslreports.
