DSL Open but IE wont browse

I can't get my system to browse. My provider says they can't ping me. I can "log" on ok, but nothing after that. I had this prob weeks ago and their tech over the phone added/removed a prog under add/remove/communications and it worked fine. If course with new DSL you need a new rig, right. So did just that. Now I have the same prob and can't figure out what it is. Could it be something I just need to reinstall, or ? I just want to get some sleep now................Oh, I also tried other browser and that won't browse either.

Thank you for your support.

what PPOE software are you using? I had the same problem when I was using the enternet software which my ISP had provided. I began using RASPPOE which took care of the problems..

PPoE is Effecient, or is it? I was using this prior and things were fine, well, at least I could surf. I did experience lockups every 6 min. What ever app I was actually using would lock up for about a min. I could move over to the other app that was accessing the web and it would be fine. That's a whole diff thead?

If you want to try without spending money, try this:

RASPPPOE, PPP over Ethernet Protocol for Windows 98/98SE/ME/2000/XP.

The best solution is to get a Cable/DSL Router. Even if you don't have a Network you get ($50-$70), hardware Firewall and an independent PPPOE device.

You can uninstall WinPOET or whatever else, the ISP dished you.

Working through the Router in a DSL connection should yield faster smoother Internet connection (it is estimated that the PPPOE software creates a 5-10% reduction in the speed of the connection).

Appreciate the tip about the other PPoE. If I HAVE to, I'll try it. In the meantime, someone has to know exactly what is causing this. There has to be a specific setting somewhere that needs to be adjusted, I just don't know where. I should reformat, right? HA!
