What could cause the DSL light to go out on my modem and my computer to not connect? My phones are scratchy too but usually its when the modem is looking for a signal I think. I tried two differant 5360's to the same result. When I plug a cable from the line coming in outside right into the modem it works perfectly. What in the house could be causing it to not get a signal? I tried differant phone jacks too.

The modem is a Speedstream 5360 and I just plug it right into my computer.

DSL light is the connection to your CO (central office). Call your telco/DSL provider. Call your ISP if they are different. If they are worth a sh!t, they will conference you in with the telco.

Good luck.

Sounds like you've isolated it to a wiring issue on your house. Ma Bell will charge you for repairing line problems past the MPOE unless you have inline insurance.

I would check for water damage, loose wiring, bad or lack of dsl filters. Can you relate this to any cause and effect? Is this new location? Did you add something like TIVO/Direct TV/Alarm that utilizes the line and forget to filter?

Good luck and let us know the outcome.

I had the same problem. Turns out some other phone was causing connections problems. Unplug each phone 1 by 1 until the problem goes away.
