DSL newbie Question

Greetings all,
Soon, I will be getting DSL line, but I have 2 other PCS in the LAN. All of them are Win2k machines with IP address 192.168.0.1, 192.168.0.2, 192.168.0.3 and the subnet mask of 255.255.255.0. That's all the entry I have. Now as I understand that I will have to have 2 NICs on my machine that will be connected to DSL.

All of the machines can see each other with out any problems. Now my question is, what configuration changes should I be making such that all 3 PCs can get on the internet with the same DSL line?

Any help is greatly appretiated.
 
There are a number of ways you can do this. Personally, I recommend using Sygate ( www.sygate.com ) which works great for me. Another popular solution is Internet Connection Sharing, which is a feature on Win98se and Win2000. I tried it and It really isn't very good. It doesn't give you enough configuration options, which are plentiful in Sygate. For some users, ICS may be all they need, but not for me. The only benefit is it is included with Windows. It can be set up in the Properies of the DSL connection on the gateway machine.
 
There's another solution. When you get DSL, get an external modem....you'll be happier that way because you can get an external router as well or run everything through a linux box to act as a Router/Gateway/DHCP server. Also because you'll be using NAT or Network Address Translation(translates one ip address into as many ips are on your internal network), this acts as a natural firewall. If you already have everything going through a hub, you can get a good router such as the DLINK 701 or the Netgear 311. There is another model made by linksys that gets good reviews and it even has a four port switch built in. Just research everything before you jump and you'll be fine. It's not as tough as it sounds. I just went through the exact same thing about two weeks ago. I am still having small problems.(Mainly cuz my two roommates are game junky win98 types) I decided to run NAT32 through my PC. It's damn straight forward if your network is stable. Just pick it up www.nat32.com and set it up. By the way, you'll also want to pick up RASPPoE if you get an external modem. My PacHELL! setup came with an old version of Enternet(1.28) which was incompatible with Win2k. I downloaded RAS and everything worked like butter. Once you hook up your DSL, go to DSLReports.com for all of your possible needs. Heck, check it out now, it has everything. Hope this helps.

i also recommmend using sygate. it's a great program and gives you lots and lots of options.
it sets everything up all by itself with only a server side installation.
your other, better option would be an external router. but...they cost more and are a little more difficult to setup.
whichever you choose, i think you'll be happy.
 
Thank you very much for everybody's input. That's a great help and learned lots of new stuff from you guys. I did not even know nat32 and others existed.

But right now I have to get another network card because one of the nics stopped working on my machine. Any reccomendataions as to which nics should I use. I have both SMC's 9432TX nic cards.
