I'm using a Zyxel dsl modem and a Linksys router (BEFSR41). I have my computer and router setup properly(as far as I know, I tell the computer to obtain IP address automatically and put my static IP info on the router) and when I plug the dsl modem (synced up as I do this) I lose sync a few seconds later and its unable to regain sync unless I unplug the modem from the router and power cycle the router. Any ideas?

/edit its a prestige 645 modem btw.

What do you mean by losing sync? The connection light goes off? I just got a Zyxel 645 and a linksys router going yesterday with no problems.

ya, the dsl light goes off, and then flashes intermitantly as if its trying to connect. but it never does unless i unplug it from the router and power cycle the modem.

Sounds like the Router is trying a connection that will not work and the DSLAM at the ISP/Teco is going into reset. Most DSL is PPoe, check what your Router is trying to do.

I didn't have to do this on my setup. The router was set to static IP, with the DSL modems IP address as gateway, and then I manually typed in the DNS addresses.
