DSL Issue

I hope this is the right place. I only have DSL in my home, no phone line or anything. I have a 7mb Qwest DSL. I was getting easily 6.5MB, however, I had the modem and router hooked up in my bedroom. I had a technician come out last night and install a new jack downstairs so that I could wire my PS3. We turned off the other connections so only that line was active. We plugged the everything in and it came on and worked great. I started playing, and everything seemed really slow. I couldn't put my finger on it. I went and ran a speed test and for some reason I am getting 333KBS. Does this sound like the technician made a mistake? Could my wires not be getting a good connection? Seems odd that moving to a different jack would cause a 7MB to act like dial up. I talked to the tech and he told me to re-smash the wires in my outside box. Any ideas? Did he totally eff this up?

Thanks in advance for any ides.
