Hey guys... I want to install Windows 2000 on my computer, but since I dont have SP3, my Sympatico software wont work and my computer wont connect to the internet. For some reason technical support says that I need SP3 for DSL to work on Windows 2000... So my question to you guys is...

1) Is there a place where I can download SP3 and burn it to CD ?

2) What is a good program that allows my PPOE connection to connect to the net in Windows 2000 ? I refuse to use Sympatics garbage anymore. In XP (Currently) I just use the built in connection software...

Any help is appriciated!

RASPPPoE is a good alternative: http://user.cs.tu-berlin.de/~normanb/

It works in all versions of Windows.

You could also go buy a inexpensive router such as a Linksys BEFSR41. Routers like this have PPPoE capabilites built in. You would not have to use ANY software at all :D The router would handle the login process automatically.

Windows 2000 SP3 (Choose the network installation)

Windows 2000 SP3 Network Installation

The Network installation includes all of the Windows 2000 SP3 files needed for installation on Windows 2000 Professional, Server, Advanced Server, and Windows 2000 with Server Appliance Kit. This is an ideal download mechanism for IT professionals who require a downloadable copy of Windows 2000 SP3 that they can use for network deployment. ISDN or faster connection is highly recommended.

RASPPPoE indeed is a great xDSL dial-up program. My ISP gives their customers a program called EnterNET. It takes longer time to connect and easy to lost connection. Strongly suggest RASPPPoE!
