DSL Connection cuts out

My parents are having difficulty with their internet connection. They have the SBC Yahoo SpeedStream 5100 connection. Whenever they browse sites sometimes it will just stop loading or when they download files it will download to a certain point and just stop. Very frustrating having to reload a page like 6 times and not being able to download anything.

Could it be interference with the phone line? If you have any ideas or input, let me know.

If its your parents you gonna have to go over there and diagnose it. I assume they are losing sync. There are several factors, the house wiring could be poor or bad, usually depends on how old the house is. Best way to check is by bypassing all of the wiring in the house by connecting a direct line from the gray telephone box (NID), usually mounted on the side of the house, directly to the dsl modem. If that solves the connection problem, you know its the house wiring causing the problems. If not, its the length or the wiring comming from the central office to your parents house.

At the worst, have them call tech support and if they have to, to get a technician out to check out their line.

Thanks for the info. Im holding off on them calling tech support/getting a technician, but Ill definitely try that out. I love how helpful the people on here are :)
